Portfolio Performance Attribution Tools Pricing: What Each Tool Costs

Short answer

Portfolio performance attribution tools pricing falls into three bands. Institutional systems, including FactSet, Bloomberg PORT, MSCI, Confluence, SS&C Sylvan, BlackRock Aladdin and Morningstar Direct, publish no price and sell through a demo or sales call. Advisor-grade tools publish a price: Koyfin puts its attribution on advisor plans starting at $209 a month, and Portfolio Visualizer lists paid plans at $30 and $55 a month billed annually. Retail tools are cheaper or free: IBviz has a free tier and a $15 a month Pro plan for Interactive Brokers accounts, Stock Rover’s Trade Evaluator needs its $17.99 a month Premium plan, and Pure Benchmarks scores each decision on a free account.

Portfolio performance attribution tools are priced for very different buyers, and the price usually tells you who the tool was built for before the feature list does. An institutional system bundles attribution with data, risk and accounting for a whole firm. An advisor tool charges per seat for client reporting. A retail tool has to fit a personal budget, which usually means narrower analysis or a single broker. This page lists what each option costs, what the money buys, and what you can get without paying.

Prices read from each vendor’s own pages between September and October 2026; vendors change them. Institutional vendors do not publish prices. Pure Benchmarks is our own product.

Institutional systems: quote-only

FactSet Portfolio Analysis, Bloomberg PORT, MSCI’s Barra-based attribution, Confluence Revolution, SS&C Sylvan, BlackRock Aladdin and Morningstar Direct do not publish prices. Each is sold through a demo or sales conversation, often as part of a wider data or analytics contract, and priced by firm, users and data coverage. They cover equity, fixed income and factor attribution with audit trails for performance teams. If your search for pricing keeps ending at a contact form, this is why.

Advisor-grade tools with published prices

Koyfin offers the most complete Brinson attribution outside an institutional contract, but it sits on the advisor plans: the free, Plus at $39 a month and Premium at $79 a month plans exist, while model and client portfolios, where attribution lives, start at Advisor Core at $209 a month and Advisor Pro at $299 a month. Portfolio Visualizer offers factor-based attribution that regresses a fund’s or ETF’s returns on factor returns, with a free plan and paid plans published at $30 and $55 a month billed annually.

Retail tools under $20 a month

IBviz builds contribution, FX and risk views on Interactive Brokers data, free on a six-month lookback and $15 a month for Pro. Stock Rover’s Trade Evaluator scores individual trades against an index on its Premium plan at $17.99 a month, with Essentials at $7.99 and Premium Plus at $27.99 and lower rates for annual billing. Morningstar Investor, at $249 a year or $34.95 a month, analyzes the funds inside a portfolio rather than attributing its return.

Free options and what they leave out

Interactive Brokers clients get a sector allocation and selection report in PortfolioAnalyst at no extra charge. Portfolio Visualizer’s free plan and IBviz Lite cover part of the analysis. Pure Benchmarks, our own product, runs decision-level attribution on a free account: it scores each buy and sell against the portfolio you held the moment before it, and ranks the account against real investors in the same risk category. It does not produce a Brinson decomposition, which is the gap to weigh if you need sector-level effects.

How to judge whether a price is worth paying

Start with the question you need answered. If it is which sectors or holdings drove a period’s return against an index, Brinson tools such as Koyfin or a broker report fit. If it is whether your own trades helped, a decision-level tool answers that directly. Then check the free tier for real output rather than a demo, whether the tool reads all of your accounts or only one broker, and whether the attribution feature itself is on the plan you are pricing, since several tools reserve it for a higher tier.

Your current platform won't show you how your portfolio ranks against real investors in the same risk category. Create your secure Pure Benchmarks account and see exactly where you stand.
